Self-care does NOT always include cupcakes, trips to the nail salon and/or spa.
The way self-care is portrayed today is completely reactive and utterly backward. I argue that self-care is proactive & sustainable work, including effective therapy, financial planning, home cooked meals, hydration, Biblical meditation to let go of toxic mindsets, and prayer, etc. It’s also forgiving yourself for NOT meeting impossible self-imposed standards and understanding that you are still valuable & worthy.
Self-care is NOT always an indulgence rather it is proactive, disciplined, (inconvenient) work!
In whatever area that disciplined work may be an issue remember God promises: “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12: 8-9 NLT)
Many times in life, trials come to test us & increase our strength. The manner in which we endure these tests can strengthen us and make us more equipped for the weight of our purpose and assignments. I was reminded of this notion during my weightlifting session.
Today my trainer added 40 more lbs of weight on certain exercises compared to when I started weightlifting after an eighteen year break. Last month I learned foundational information, including proper form.
He revealed today: “to be able to carry & lift heavier weights, I’ve got to add more weights than you are used to.”
This rings true in life too.
Similarly, when living as a disciple of Jesus Christ, there is indeed progression, but not without discomfort, testing, and victories – of course! According to the Bible, “these trials are only to test your faith, to see whether or not it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold; so if your faith remains strong after being tried in the test tube of fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day of his return.” (1 Peter 1:7-9)
Therefore one MUST go thru inevitable tests to gain a testimony of overcoming, increased confidence, progression, strength, courage and boldness. God’s grace is sufficient and His power works best in weakness. Therefore, be honest and boast in your shortcomings and weaknesses to God in your intimate time, so the power of Christ can work through you. (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I nature, so these plant gifts add an amazing presence in my home.
Plants are therapeutic, adds color and texture to an otherwise lifeless indoor space.
A research study revealed that the presence of more than three indoor plants in homes and businesses enhances mood and aids in refocusing our energy. And with plants, bigger is better. The larger the plants, the better the mood of the research subjects. Also, an increase in the number of plants reduced the feeling of weariness.
According to the American Society for Horticultural Science, just having a clear view through the window of vegetation outside has proven to boost mood, combat depression and increase overall feelings of wellness. Plants and flowers
help boost any indoor atmosphere! Grateful for a bit more
indoors.
How are you going to enhance your indoor space?
